A book by a friend but a fantastic book nonetheless. Having had a great debut there was a lot of live up to ... and I was all ready to be more critical of PT. However the book won me over with ease.

If I was to compare it to anything it would be to the Empire Strikes Back (in line with the contemporary analogies that PT has used in the series). There is a lot of setup happening and lot of complex things going on with respect to time and space. It is a very entertaining read, with a lot of content that pushes the story along at full speed.

At the end of it all we are left with some answers but a lot of questions, waiting with bated breath for the next installment of this story. Knowing PT's committed and disciplined approach I am sure we will not have to wait long.

Great trilogy.
I really enjoyed how this book took a new direction than the first one but while still logically continuing the story from the first book. Well done!
Very enjoyable sequel to Regulation 19. Reminiscent of Stephen King. Good pacing and interesting ideas.
A once-man named Zed and his alien benefactors. normal and deep time, and their denizens. And people in the middle.
It's a rare treat to find a story this original! No recycled vampires and zombies here. P. T. Hylton scares us with monsters we've never met, all homegrown in his fertile imagination. He creeps us out in a world we've never been to, "A Place Without Shadows." It's hard to give this book its due without giving away its secrets. And there are secrets aplenty in this sequel. Readers of "Regulation 19" will discover that what happened in Rook Mountain was just the tip of the iceberg. It's a riveting plot, enlivened by believable and likeable characters. I loved the ending and can't wait to read the conclusion of this series next spring.
I'm a huge book worm. I've always got a book on hand, so I forget the ones that don't stand out fairly quickly after I've finished one. This series has always stood out. I waited around for the second book just like I'll be waiting on the third. Kept me on the edge of my seat!! Definitely recommend
I am really into this series. It has been a highly original and entertaining story. It's four stars is based on the story alone (I say this because the writing style is good, not exceptional, but definitely good, and I think this author's style will definitely improve and evolve). It's extremely well thought out and plotted. There are so many ways that this could have been a disaster (time-travel, time-stoppage, a place outside of place - which I'm still trying to wrap my head around but somehow Hylton makes it work) but not once was I confused or in disbelief. I can't wait to get to Book 3!
